In 2019, Medline announced plans to build a new distribution center in Southaven. This new facility allows the company to expand warehousing needs as medical supply and product demands from local healthcare providers continue to increase. At its previous Memphis location, the company realized the need for more space, and Southaven provided the ideal location to accommodate Medline’s growth..
“We have a critical role in healthcare that ensures healthcare providers have the supplies they need where they need them for each and every patient,” said Dmitry Dukhan, vice president of Real Estate Operations for Medline. “This new location is ideal for a distribution hub for nearby hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, surgical centers, as well as for our other distribution centers.”
Like Medline, industry-leading companies are turning to Mississippi for their shipping needs.. Located in one of the fastest-growing regions of the U.S. and within a day’s drive of many of the nation’s top business centers, Mississippi boasts convenient access to both domestic and international consumers. Its prime location is evident by the state’s thriving warehousing and distribution industry.
However, Medline chose Southaven not only because of its prime location in the mid-South, but also because of its quality workforce, high quality of life and strong local commitment to emphasizing and supporting healthcare in the state and beyond.
The new 1.4 million-square-foot facility represents a $46 million corporate investment. Additionally, the new center will create 450 jobs in Southaven.
“Medline’s investment in the Southaven community and the creation of hundreds of new jobs marks the beginning of a long-lasting business partnership with the state of Mississippi and a long-term commitment to the people of DeSoto County,” said former Gov. Phil Bryant.
“We are grateful to all the people and officials in Southaven, the county of DeSoto, and the state of Mississippi who have recognized the potential of this project for both local residents and healthcare throughout the region,” said Dukhan.
