Customized business development workshops provide assistance with planning and general management, accounting and financial management, networking, negotiating, branding and marketing and more. The Model Contractor Development and Contractor License Review programs teach small construction contractors the value of licensure and help them improve their operations and increase bonding capacity.

The Mississippi APEX Accelerator helps businesses identify, compete for and win government contracts. Through no-cost counseling, training and technical assistance, APEX counselors guide companies through the government procurement process and help position them for success. Millions of dollars in government contracts are awarded to Mississippi businesses each year with support from the program.

It operates through the Mississippi Development Authority’s Minority and Small Business Development Division. Funding is provided through a cooperative agreement administered by the U.S. Department of War – Office of Industrial Base Growth, with matching support from MDA, local governments and economic development organizations throughout the state.

The Agency Bid Bank complements the services provided through the Mississippi APEX Accelerator by helping Mississippi’s small businesses identify government contracting opportunities. In partnership with the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration, the resource provides access to available state bids and procurement information by connecting businesses with opportunities that match their capabilities and helping increase their competitiveness in the marketplace.
