Marathon Cheese expanding operations in Booneville

Jackson, Miss. (Aug. 18, 2026) – Marathon Cheese is expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Booneville. The project represents a $326,000 corporate investment and will create 39 jobs.
Marathon Cheese is a custom cheese packaging and transportation company headquartered in Marathon, Wisconsin. The expansion includes the installation of new manufacturing equipment, including a production line that will increase slicing and packaging capacity at the Booneville facility.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. Prentiss County, the city of Booneville and the Tennessee Valley Authority also are assisting with the project.
Marathon Cheese opened its Booneville location in 1962, where it currently employs 192 full-time workers. The company completed installation of the new equipment at the end of July.
