‘Explore like a Local’ Campaign Unveiled at Governor’s Conference on Tourism
Jackson, Mississippi — September 20, 2016 — Governor Phil Bryant unveiled the Explore like a Local online tourism promotional campaign today during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Natchez, Mississippi.
“Visitors now have a resource to plan their authentic Mississippi experience,” said Governor Bryant. “Explore like a Local takes you off the beaten path and showcases the welcoming, eclectic and genuine Mississippi we live every day.”
The online campaign showcases two communities in each of the state’s five regions. With 10 video testimonials in all, the campaign features local “champions” highlighting the noteworthy and unique aspects of their community. These include restaurants, local businesses, outdoor recreational areas and other places of interest. The Visit Mississippi website houses the campaign, which consists of videos, photography, itineraries, “champion” and videographer profiles and more.
“Tourism plays a vibrant role in Mississippi’s economy providing more than 85,000 direct jobs for Mississippians from the Hills of Appalachia to the Delta’s Birthplace of the Blues, from the mighty Mississippi to the beautiful Gulf of Mexico,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “This campaign promotes Mississippi’s unique tourism assets with graceful charm sure to enhance our state’s tourism industry.”
“Promotional efforts with the Explore like a Local campaign position Mississippi as a premier tourism destination and place of residence. The campaign also boosts local and statewide morale and civic pride with captivating perspectives from locals,” said Visit Mississippi Director Craig Ray.
