Japanese Dignitaries to Attend SEUS-Japan Meeting
Jackson, Miss. (November 15, 2013) – On Monday, Nov. 18, Japan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Kenichiro Sasae and Atsutoshi Nishida, chairman of the board of the Toshiba Corporation, will attend the 36th Annual Joint Meeting of the Southeast – U.S. Japan and Japan/U.S. Southeast Associations in Biloxi, Miss.
Sasae and Nishida will join other Japanese officials and executives at the event, along with Gov. Phil Bryant and invited state leaders from southeastern U.S. member states Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Nishida is serving as the Japanese chairman of the 2013 SEUS-Japan Joint Meeting, and his U.S. co-chair is William Yates III, president and CEO of Mississippi-based Yates Construction.
“It is an honor to host the 36th Annual SEUS-Japan Joint Meeting in Biloxi, and we are pleased to have Mr. Sasae and Mr. Nishida leading the Japanese delegation for this historical event,” said Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Brent Christensen. “Their unwavering support of this organization and event will ensure we are able to build upon our existing relationships with Japanese businesses while providing the opportunity to forge new ones.”
The Southeast U.S. – Japan and Japan/U.S. Southeast Associations, collectively known as SEUS-Japan, were established in 1975. The annual joint meeting attracts more than 400 Japanese and southeastern U.S. business leaders, government officials and economic development professionals each year.
