MDA Leading Business Trip to Southeast Asia

Globe showing China and Japan

Jackson, Miss. (June 10, 2014) – Representatives from the Mississippi Development Authority will lead a delegation of Mississippi companies on a business development mission to Southeast Asia from August 25-29, 2014. The trip is designed to connect Mississippi businesses that want to expand trade and create new business relationships with qualified buyers in the region, and it will include stops in Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
“This trade mission is a great, cost-effective means for Mississippi businesses interested in developing or expanding existing trade in Southeast Asia. Opportunities exist in the region for Mississippi businesses in a variety of sectors, including information technology, agricultural products, medical equipment and much more,” said MDA Executive Director Brent Christensen. “I encourage businesses interested in export sales to make plans to join the Mississippi delegation on this business development mission.”
MDA works with qualified potential buyers, distributors and business representatives from Southeast Asia prior to meeting with members of the state delegation. MDA also works with Mississippi firms before, during and after the trip to help them best capitalize on the opportunities realized as a result of participation.
The U.S. Small Business Administration-funded Mississippi State Trade Export Promotion program reimburses eligible businesses up to 50 percent of travel costs, including airfare and lodging, and provides interpretation services at no cost. Additional services include scheduled appointments with qualified prospects covered at 75 percent, local transportation assistance and a customized itinerary.
