Saf-T-Cart Expands in Clarksdale
Clarksdale, Miss. (March 27, 2012) – Officials from Saf-T-Cart, manufacturer of steel welding carts and storage products for various commercial and industrial applications, have announced the company is expanding its operations in Clarksdale, Miss., in order to accommodate an increase in production. The project represents a company investment of $240,000 and will create 20 new jobs. The company currently employs 55 workers.
“Saf-T-Cart’s expansion is great news for Clarksdale, Coahoma County and the state of Mississippi, and I am grateful company officials are continuing to grow and create new jobs for area residents,” Governor Phil Bryant said.
“Saf-T-Cart is pleased to announce our second expansion in five years. This has been made possible by having an outstanding team, an aggressive county government interested in growth, and a very supportive state and federal government. We are also fortunate to have a very strong customer base located throughout North America,” said Saf-T-Cart President Jimmy Walker.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) helped facilitate the project by providing funding for improvements to the county-owned building the company occupies. Coahoma County provided assistance for the project, as well.
“I thank Saf-T-Cart for its continued investment in the Mississippi Delta, and I wish the company many more years of success in Clarksdale,” said MDA Interim Executive Director Jim Barksdale. “I am pleased MDA was able to work with the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors and other local officials to help bring this project to fruition.”
