Mississippi Development Authority to Lead Business Development Mission to Hannover Messe Trade Fair in Hannover, Germany
Jackson, Mississippi — January 21, 2016 — From April 25-29, representatives from Mississippi Development Authority will lead a delegation of Mississippi companies and economic developers on a business development mission to Hannover, Germany to participate in the world’s largest industrial trade show, Hannover Messe. The event features more than 6,500 exhibitors, more than 220,000 visitors from 70 countries and more than 100 business “buyer delegations” looking for new, innovative products.
Hannover Messe will provide unique opportunities for Mississippi businesses and economic development organizations that want to expand trade, create new business relationships and attract foreign direct investment from one of the world’s largest economies. With a focus on industrial technology, the trade show attracts exhibitors and buyers from a range of sectors. These include industrial automation and IT; industrial supply, productions engineering and services; power transmission and control; energy and environmental technology; research and technology; and more.
For the first time in the history of Hannover Messe, the United States will be the official partner country at the event. This designation ensures the fair will bring attention to participating U.S. businesses and economic development organizations exhibiting at the event.
“Hannover Messe is a cost-effective opportunity for the state’s economic developers to attract foreign direct investment to their communities. This event will also allow Mississippi companies to initiate or expand trade relationships with businesses worldwide,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “By participating in this multi-industry mission, participants will have access to the world’s most strategic markets at one venue. Also, MDA will work with Mississippi companies before, during and after the trip to help them capitalize on the opportunities occurring a result of participating in Hannover Messe.”
The U.S. Small Business Administration-funded Mississippi State Trade Export Promotion program reimburses eligible businesses up to 50 percent of travel costs, including airfare, lodging and per diem. Participation also includes minimal booth space fees, and advertising, media exposure and networking events at no cost.
Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and early registration is recommended. The deadline to register is February 19, 2016.
