Mississippi Development Authority Now Accepting Applications for 2017 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Exporting
Jackson, Mississippi — August 22, 2017 — Nominations for the 2017 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Exporting are now being accepted. The awards will be presented by Governor Phil Bryant on Nov. 2 during a ceremony at the Old Capitol Inn in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Exporting recognize one or more Mississippi companies for their noteworthy success in maintaining or increasing export sales. The winners are selected by a committee from the Mississippi District Export Council.
“Companies throughout our state are extremely successful providing Mississippi-made products and services to customers around the world, making Mississippi a Top 20-ranked state in the U.S. for growth in exports over the last 10 years. Exporting Mississippi products is a key driver in economic development, generating careers for Mississippians while building stronger communities,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr.
In 2016, Trilogy Communications of Pearl and RBR Enterprises of Byhalia were recipients of the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting. Additional companies honored for the export success were Bio Soil Enhancers, Hattiesburg; Kasai North America, Madison; Wood Industries, Belmont; and Flathau’s Fine Foods, Petal.
Mississippi-based manufacturers, agribusinesses, service companies or suppliers engaged in exporting products are services are eligible to apply. Applicants must demonstrate one or more of the following: breakthroughs in existing competitive markets, introduction of a new product into export trade, opening a trade area previously closed or successfully overcoming threads to existing export activity. Unique and successful solutions to problems regarding export trade, such as financing, transportation, marketing or successful promotional programs, should also be demonstrated.
