Mississippi Development Authority Accepting Applications for Industrial Energy Efficiency Program Funds
Jackson, Mississippi — October 23, 2018 — The Mississippi Development Authority’s Energy and Natural Resources Division is now accepting applications for the 2018 Mississippi Industrial Energy Efficiency Program, which is made possible through $400,000 in State Energy Program funds from the U.S. Department of Energy.
MIEEP is designed to assist Mississippi companies with making energy efficiency upgrades to their facilities to reduce energy consumption and operating costs. Program funds also assist industries with creating or retaining jobs.
“The benefits of using energy wisely are abundant as wise energy use can improve operational performance while enhancing profitability,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We encourage our state’s business and industry leaders to apply for MIEEP funding to identify ways to adopt wise energy use practices.”
The maximum grant amount allowed under the program is up to 50 percent of the total project installation, with the grant award not to exceed $50,000. The minimum grant award is $20,000.
Eligible energy retrofits and upgrades include the purchase and installation of energy efficient equipment and system upgrades that result in reductions in energy consumption and operating costs at an applicant’s facility.
Entities eligible to apply include private for-profit organizations, businesses, sole proprietorships and partnerships with operations in Mississippi that are classified as manufacturers according to the North American Industry Classification System, specifically those with NAICS codes beginning with 31, 32 or 33.
