MDA’s 2015 Government Procurement Conference and Trade Fair


Jackson, Mississippi — April 30, 2015 — Mississippi businesses can learn more about subcontracting and procurement opportunities at the Mississippi Development Authority’s 2015 Government Procurement Opportunities Conference and Trade Fair May 5th at Landers Center, which is located at 4560 Venture Drive in Southaven, Mississippi. A barbecue and blues welcome and networking reception kicking off the event will be held at Landers Center on May 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Companies are invited to make connections with federal and state purchasing offices and private sector companies at the biennial event, which is sponsored by MDA and the Mississippi Procurement Technical Assistance Program, a federally sponsored program that helps connect Mississippi small businesses to federal contracting opportunities. 
Dr. Donna Peebles, associate director of the Office of Small Business Programs, National Guard Bureau, will be the opening session speaker and Torre J. Jessup, regional administrator of the Southeast Sunbelt Region, General Services Administration, will the luncheon keynote speaker.
“Mississippi continues the effort to stimulate the growth and development of all of the state’s businesses, and I encourage companies to send a representative to this event to share their contracting opportunities,” said MDA Minority and Small Business Development Division Director Bob Covington.
Invited U. S. government agencies and defense contractors include: Department of Defense (Army, Air Force and Navy) installations, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Postal Service, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Veteran Affairs, Lockheed Martin, Huntington Ingalls Industries, and NASA.
Approximately 60 Mississippi state purchasing offices have been invited to participate as exhibitors at the trade show. Private sector invitees include, Nissan, Toyota North America, Mississippi gaming properties, Mississippi Power Company and Entergy.
