MDA Leading Business Trip to Israel
Jackson, Miss. (February 7, 2012) – The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) will lead a delegation of state business leaders on a business development mission to Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem, Israel from March 17-22, 2012. The trip is designed to connect Mississippi businesses looking to expand trade and create business relationships with opportunities in Israeli markets.
During the business development mission, delegates will meet one-on-one with qualified agents and distributors regarding their products and services.
“U.S. exports to Israel have grown tremendously in recent years, and demand in the Israeli marketplace for products and services in the renewable energy, energy efficiency, aerospace and defense industries, to name just a few, presents great opportunities for Mississippi companies looking to expand their businesses through trade,” said Jim Barksdale, MDA interim executive director. “Furthermore, the U.S.-Israeli Free Trade Agreement allows U.S. companies to export their products to Israel duty-free.”
By attending the Israel Business Development Mission, participating firms can take advantage of administrative support before, during and after the event. Participants will receive the following services:
- Scheduled pre-qualified appointments with buyers, distributors, agents and brokers
- Logistical support, including local transportation assistance, and a customized itinerary
- Language interpretation services
Participants also will have the opportunity to attend the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International in Tel Aviv.
Additionally, grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying small businesses to offset certain costs related to the trip. Qualifying businesses will receive substantial financial incentives, including up to 50 percent of travel costs and gold key service reimbursements, as well as translation services, at no cost, through the Small Business Administration-funded Mississippi State Trade Export Promotion (STEP) grant program.
Space is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and early registration is recommended. The deadline to register is February 17, 2012.
