Governor's 2015 Export Summit Sets Sights on Boosting Mississippi Exports
Jackson, Mississippi — April 15, 2015 — Open the door to your business’s export opportunities with the Governor’s 2015 Export Summit scheduled for May 7, 2015, 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the Jackson Convention Center in downtown Jackson.
Governor Phil Bryant will be the keynote luncheon speaker at the event, designed to provide direct access to export and trade-related experts across the industry to Mississippi’s small and medium-sized firms. One-on-one, pre-arranged meetings with these export facilitators will provide valuable information on export planning, financing options and assistance, required documentation and regulations, market research, and more.
“Mississippi’s exports totaled $11.4 billion in 2014, so it’s clear that we compete on a global scale,” Governor Bryant said. “With more than 95 percent of the world’s consumers living outside the United States, we want to continue to be aggressive in growing our international presence through trade. Exporting opens new doors for companies looking to grow their businesses, and it creates jobs here and strengthens our state’s economy.”
From automobiles to aerospace products to wood pulp and plastic materials, Mississippi companies export a wide range of products throughout 200 international markets in Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
International trade sector facilitators will be on hand at the Governor’s 2015 Export Summit to provide the tools and necessary information to the state’s new and existing firms so that they can be best positioned to compete in the global marketplace.
The event is sponsored by Mississippi Development Authority, U.S. Small Business Administration-funded State Trade and Export Promotion Program, World Trade Center Mississippi and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
