Bill Ashley brings to MDA decades of experience managing Mississippi community colleges and examining workforce needs in the region. He previously served as president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he guided the college through workforce and economic development initiatives.
He has worked with federal and state leaders to implement workforce training programs and partnered with companies, such as Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Nucor and BF Goodrich, to provide students with the skills they needed. He has more than 20 years of experience in four of Mississippi’s community colleges where he saw firsthand how community colleges, communities and the state can work together on developing a strong workforce.
Ashley has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business and economics from Delta State University. He also has a doctorate in community college leadership and graduate certificate in economic development from Mississippi State University.
