Mississippi plays a major role in America’s defense readiness. From shipbuilding and rocket testing on the Gulf Coast to aerospace and land‑systems work in the Golden Triangle, defense activity spans the state. Defense spending in Mississippi contributes billions of dollars to state GDP. With a strong talent pipeline and an infrastructure network of roads, rail, air and waterways, Mississippi supports industries vital to national security.

The Governor’s Office of Military Affairs (GOMA), works to strengthen and expand military missions, increase defense investment and support defense communities. GOMA aligns with federal defense and security priorities, partners with aerospace investors, and collaborates with universities to leverage Mississippi’s military installations.

Together, GOMA, the Installation Commander’s Council and the Defense Communities Development Council advance priorities for Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard missions and support military families statewide.
