Mississippi Development Authority to hold public hearing regarding Dept. of Energy’s Grid Resilience Formula Grant Program
Jackson, Miss. (August 24, 2022) – The Mississippi Development Authority’s Energy and Natural Resources Division will hold a public hearing regarding the state of Mississippi’s first-year application of $6,051,572 through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Resilience Formula Grant Program.
The DOE has provided grants to states, U.S. territories and Indian tribes under the Grid Resilience Formula Grant Program to improve the resilience of electric grids against disruptive events. Funds may be further allocated to eligible entities, including electric grid operators, electricity storage operators, electricity generators, transmission owners or operators, distribution providers, fuel suppliers and any other relevant entities. Five percent of the funds made available each fiscal year also can be used to provide technical assistance and cover administrative expenses associated with the program.
In addition to providing an overview of this program and various related compliance requirements, MDA-ENRD will review the criteria and methods the state anticipates using to grant awards to eligible entities and the potential ways of distributing funding. The hearing will take place on September 20 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Service Commission Courtroom in the Woolfolk State Office Building, 501 N. West Street, Jackson, 39201.
