New Markets Tax Credit PowerPoint Presentations - January 2008 Meeting

In January, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) began an initiative to increase the utilization of New Markets Tax Credits in our state. As part of this initiative, on May 5, 2008, the Mississippi Development Authority hosted a New Markets Tax Credits Workshop to provide an overview of the federal program and provide practical information on the usage of these credits as a financing tool for Mississippi projects. The workshop provided participants an opportunity to interact with Community Development Entities, banks, developers, and MDA staff.
 
The workshop included a welcome by Ms. Donna Gambrell, Director of the U.S. Department of Treasury, Community Development Financial Institution, and a luncheon Keynote address by Governor Barbour.
 
Topics covered during the seminar included an overview of the New Markets Tax Credit program, various Community Development Entity Business models, deal structuring, associated legal issues, and an overview of the state program. The power point presentations that were made can be accessed below.
