Lake Development
Mississippi has an abundance of rural land and plentiful water resources. This combination creates the potential for significant economic development centering on residential /sportsmen lakes. When developed properly these lakes can achieve the right long term balance between the social, economic and environmental needs for the overall good of the citizens of Mississippi. The asset Development Division has been presenting the linked power point presentation to interested parties throughout the state.

Permitting can be a very significant part of a successful lake development project. The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA), as well as the regulatory agencies, wants to encourage developers to engage the regulators as early as possible in order to share relevant information. Such an early exchange of information will prove valuable to both the developer and the regulators. In an effort to encourage early information exchanges MDA asked the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to create the following document to help developers become aware of some of the permits, requirements, and issues which will be addressed before lake development can proceed.
