It is with the most heart felt gratitude that we make this statement to the thousands of men and women who have traveled great distances or opened wallets to aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Yet somehow, “thank you” doesn’t seem to be enough; there has to be something more. How do you repay the kindness and compassion of millions of people across the world?
Well, first we can promise that the people of Mississippi will never forget our heroes who continue to give their time, talents, thoughts and prayers during this period of loss and uncertainty.We can also pledge to pass on to those who visit here the gracious southern hospitality for which Mississippi is known. Finally,we can recognize that our charge now is to make responsible, prudent choices regarding the economic challenges we face ahead and that this is an opportunity for everyone here to again show the world what we can do when we pull together.
