Governor Barbour Announces Over $6.7 Million in Growth and Improvement Funding for 30 Mississippi Communities

  Governor Haley Barbour recently announced the awarding of more than $6.7 million in grant or loan awards for improvements and growth in 30 Mississippi municipalities and counties through the Capital Improvements Revolving Loan (CAP), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs.

MDA Continues Procurement Training for Small, Minority and Woman-owned Businesses

Governor Barbour Announces Toyota Tsusho America to Locate in Blue Springs

  Governor Haley Barbour said today that automotive supplier Toyota Tsusho America, Inc., will locate two operations in Blue Springs to supply Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi.

MDA and South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center Announce "Department of Defense Day"

  The South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center (SMCPC)  and the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) will host “Department of Defense Industry Day” on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Pelican Landing Conference Center, 6217 Hwy. 613, Moss Point, MS, 39563.

Consortium Prepares for Release of Final Environmental Impact Statement for NBAF

  Representatives from the Gulf States Bio and Agro- Defense Consortium recently met with congressional leaders from numerous states to strengthen Mississippi’s bid to bring the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) to Flora.

MDA Launches Model Contractor Workshop Series in Jackson

  On Thursday, October 23, 2008, the Mississippi Development Authority will launch its Model Contractor Development Program Workshop Series. The program orientation session is scheduled from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce Building at 201 S. President Street in downtown Jackson, Miss.

MDA Hosts Energy Open Houses for Small Business Owners Statewide

  In recognition of a nationwide celebration of Energy Awareness Month during October, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) will host three Energy Open Houses for small businesses on October 23, 24 and 28, 2008.

  Chandler Russ has joined the Mississippi Development Authority as director of the agency’s Existing Industry and Business Division.

Energy Coordinators Conference to be Held in Vicksburg

  The Mississippi Energy Coordinators Association (MECA) will host its 2008 Convention and Expo on Tuesday, October 7 through Thursday, October 9, 2008. The three-day event will be held at the Vicksburg Convention Center at 1600 Mulberry Street in Vicksburg, Miss. The event, entitled “Partnering for Success,” is co-sponsored by the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA).

MDA Hosts Renewable Energy Day 
October 3 2008
  To kick off October as Energy Awareness Month, the Mississippi Development Authority’s (MDA) Energy Division hosted its annual Renewable Energy Day today at the Agricultural and Forestry Museum in Jackson. The event, which targeted area schoolchildren grades 1st through 8th, promoted a greater awareness of energy sources and demonstrates how energy can be used more efficiently and effectively.
